Fun & Affordable Activities in the Philadelphia Area for July 4th Weekend
Here at American Heritage Credit Union, we’re so proud to be celebrating our nation’s semiquincentennial, or 250th anniversary! From historical and educational events to the World Cup and everything in between, there’s truly something for everyone this summer, especially here in Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love.
Let’s take a closer look at some of the events happening this Independence Day weekend around Philadelphia. We’ll focus especially on affordable events that offer something for everyone.
1. Southampton Days Country Fair
When: Monday, June 29th – Saturday, July 4th, 2026
Where: Tamanend Park (1351 Second Street Pike, Southampton PA 18966)
Cost: $5 fee (cash only) to enter the Fair Grounds on July 4th
You won’t want to miss the Southampton Days Country Fair, which is putting forth a big show on July 4th to celebrate our country and independence! The Sam Costantini Annual 4th of July Parade is a rain or shine event and starts at 9 AM. You’ll see a patriotic parade featuring floats, bicycles, wagons, and more.
The evening will close with a fireworks show and concert beginning at 6:30 PM. The fireworks will start around 9:35 PM and are sponsored by the Southampton Days Committee. Bus service will be available from select locations both to and from the Fair Grounds.

2. Freedom Festival
When: Saturday, July 4th, 2026
Where: Pleasant Hill Park (Linden Avenue and Delaware Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19136)
Cost: Free
The Freedom Festival in Northeast Philadelphia by State Street Events truly has something for everyone! Attendees can expect to enjoy more than 30 craft vendors, more than 10 different food trucks, two beer gardens, and live music on two stages. And for the kids, there will be carnival rides including a Ferris wheel.
No 4th of July celebration would be complete without fireworks, and the evening will conclude with a fireworks show to light up the night sky. The event kicks off at 5 PM, with the fireworks happening towards 9 PM.

3. Salute to Independence Semiquincentennial Parade
When: Friday, July 3rd, 2026
Where: The Parade begins at 5th and Chestnut Streets in Philadelphia. It then travels west on Chestnut Street towards 6th Street. From here, the Parade turns right and goes along Market Street, eventually making its way toward City Hall. Once at City Hall, the Parade will turn left onto South Juniper Street and conclude at the intersection of Chestnut and Broad Streets.
Cost: Free
Don’t miss the patriotism on full display during the Salute to Independence Semiquincentennial Parade! This event is the largest professionally produced 250th celebration parade happening in the nation. This truly is an event you won’t forget and one that celebrates the diversity of our nation.
Attendees will enjoy seeing 50 marching bands from across the country and the world, including the Prattville High School Marching Band from Alabama and the Triuggio Marching Band from Triuggio, Italy. Additionally, there will be 19 different floats celebrating different ethnicities, as well as military and special units, historic features, and so much more.
You can view the Parade from any spot on the route or claim your spot at any of the official Cheer Zones, located at 6th and Market Streets, 11th and 12th Streets on Market Street, or the Northeast side of City Hall. Each Cheer Zone has some fun surprises planned for guests, including snacks, live entertainment, giveaways, and more.
The Parade will begin around 12 PM. For those not able to attend in-person, the event will be streamed on NBC 10 Philadelphia, as well as streaming platforms like Peacock and Roku. To learn more about this meaningful and powerful event, click here.

4. One Philly Unity Concert for America
When: Saturday, July 4th, 2026 from 5 – 11:45 PM
Where: The Benjamin Franklin Parkway (near the Philadelphia Museum of Art)
Cost: Free
If you’re looking for an event that combines fireworks, live performances from some major stars, and American pride, look no further than the One Philly Unity Concert for America! Attendance is free and guests can expect to enjoy performances from Philadelphia icons like Jill Scott, Will Smith, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and The Roots.
The night will end with beautiful fireworks over top the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Gates open at 3 PM and attendees can download the 2026 Access Philly app for updates and additional details.

5. Free Museum Days
If you’re hoping to dig more into history and the background of America, Wawa Welcome America is offering free museum days to select museums and historical societies through July 4th. Below is a breakdown of the locations participating, as well as which days you can stop by and visit them.
- Stenton – July 2nd, 2026 from 10 AM to 4 PM
- Institute of Contemporary Art, University of Pennsylvania – July 2nd, 2026 from 12 PM – 6 PM
- Science History Institute – July 3rd, 2026 from 10 AM – 5 PM
- Fireman’s Hall Museum – July 3rd, 2026 from 10 AM – 3 PM
- Historic St. George’s Museum and Archives – July 3rd, 2026 from 11 AM – 4 PM
- Historic Waynesborough – July 3rd, 2026 from 12 PM – 4 PM
- Cliveden of the National Trust – July 4th, 2026 from 10 AM – 2 PM
- Historical Society of Pennsylvania – July 4th, 2026 from 10 AM – 2 PM
- Powel House – July 4th, 2026 from 11 AM – 4 PM
